Rustenburg Rapid Transport

The Rustenburg Rapid Transport (RRT) project is a flagship transport initiative of the Rustenburg Local Municipality. It will provide a blueprint for the optimal public transport system to serve the city in the future, thereby enhancing local, social and economic development. It is part of the national Public Transport Action Plan whereby 12 cities in South Africa have been selected to improve their public transport networks. The RRT is intended to transform the public transport sector through provision of a high quality and affordable public transport system in line with national policy.

LSO was part of the lead consultant team involved in the design of Contract A, Sections A, B and C within the central business district. LSO is also involved in the design of the bus depots and maintenance facilities for the RRT network.

John Dube Precinct

The John Dube Precinct encompasses the development of an integrated, multi-functional “New City” which will supply not only new housing opportunities but also a variety of urban, commercial, industrial, and institutional amenities and job opportunities to the greater Kwatsaduza area. The project is located within the City of Ekurhuleni, with the major stakeholders being the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements, the City of Ekurhuleni and the John Dube Development Company.

LSO has been appointed by the John Dube Development Company as part of the professional services team to provide civil and structural engineering consulting services.

Naauwpoort Integrated Human Settlements Development

The Naaupoort Integrated Human Settlements Development is located within the City of Emalahleni Local Municipality. The project comprises of approximately 4450 housing units as well as community based facilities.

LSO is part of the professional team appointed by Maseno General Trade who is the implementing agent. LSO will be involved in the planning stages up to the handover of individual houses to qualified beneficiaries.

Hebron to Madidi Bulk Water Supply

The Hebron to Madidi Bulk Water Supply project has been initiated by the Madibeng Local Municipality and involves the provision of a reliable water supply to some 25 villages in eastern Madibeng that are currently experiencing regular water shortages.

LSO has been appointed by the Madibeng Local Municipality as civil engineering consultants for the design and construction supervision for the Hebron to Madidi bulk water scheme. The project involves the construction of 4 reservoirs, 1 pump station and a 25Km pipeline of varying diameter.

Installation of Internal Services in Dithakwaneng

The project involved the provision of water, roads and stormwater for 600 stands in Dithakwaneng which is situated within the Naledi Local Municipality. The project was initiated by the North West Department of Local Government and Human Settlements.

LSO has been appointed by M Civils for the design of internal water, roads and stormwater for the 600 stands.

Pump Station and Rising Main from Boitekong WWTW to Rustenburg WWTW

This is a turnkey project initiated by the Rustenburg Local Municipality and involves the provision of services for the planning, design, construction and implementation of a pump station and 335mm diameter rising main. The project involves pumping sewage from the Boitekong Sewage Treatment Works to the Rustenburg Sewage Treatment Works.

LSO has been appointed by Mogaki Civils Services cc as the consultants on the project.

Carletonville Waste Management Centre

The Carletonville Waste Management Centre project involves the provision of a new waste management centre for the Merafong City Local Municipality.

LSO has been appointed as the principle agent on the project by the Merafong City Local Municipality on a turn-key basis. LSO is responsible for the following services: engineering management, civil engineering, structural engineering, architectural services, quantity surveying, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, topographical survey and construction.

Fochville Substation

The Fochville substation project forms part of the electrical upgrade and refurbishment initiative undertaken by the Merafong City Local Municipality. The project involves upgrading of the Eskom point of supply and replacing the 1 X 8 MVA 132/6.6 kV transformer with a 20 MVA 132/6.6 kV transformer and reusing the existing 1 X 10 MVA 132/6.6 kV transformer with the provision to upgrade to 20MVA in future. Provision is also made for future developments, with the installation of a new 1 X 20 MVA 132/11kV transformer and 11 kV switching station with provision for a 20 MVA transformer in future.

LSO has been appointed by the Merafong City Local Municipality for the design, tender documentation, contract administration, quality management control, handing over and close out of the works.

Kokosi Extension 6

The Kokosi Extension 6 project involves the electrification of households in the Kokosi township. The scope of the contract is for the the supply, delivery and installation of all material required for the electrification of 2 138 stands in Kokosi Extension 6, including the house connections and BEC  44 pre-payment meters complete with wireless interface unit.

LSO has been appointed as the principle agent on the project by the Merafong City Local Municipality on a turn-key basis.

Khutsong Phase 5

The Khutsong Phase 5 project involves the electrification of 920 households in the Khutsong township. The scope of the contract is for the supply, delivery and installation of all material required for the electrification of stands in Khutsong Phase 5, including the house connections and BEC  44 pre-payment meters complete with wireless interface unit

LSO has been appointed as the consulting engineer on the project by the Merafong City Local Municipality.

Kokosi Extension 99

The Kokosi Extension 99 project involves the electrification of 1193 stands in the Kokosi township. The scope of the contract is for the the supply, delivery and installation of all material required for the electrification of stands in Kokosi Extension 99, including the house connections and BEC  44 pre-payment meters complete with wireless interface unit
